RARA President Mike Houghton outlined steps in planning for the 2012 event are moving forward and for RAHA it is an "all or nothing" future. Taking it one step at a time, Air Race Pylon school will be held in June as scheduled.
Not waiting for the NTSB report from a briefing scheduled next week, RARA has named their own Blue Ribbon safety panel experts to include: Jim Hall, John Sharp, Nick Sabatini and Steve Hinton. Their report to the Board of Directors is due in 90 days or before the Pylon school.

Houghton said fans are lined up for 2012 and he hopes the tremendous support and generosity including the community will continue. He looks forward to welcoming the pilots back to the 49th annual race and potentially a one-of-a-kind memorial tribute to those fans lost.
Should the permits, waivers and approvals necessary to hold the air race not be granted, the airshow and memorial event would still be held, said Houghton, an air show alone would not support RARA in the future. As of now the air show will have the Patriots Jet team. Another press conference with more details will be announced.
Tickets for the 49th Reno Air Race Championship will go on sale. -B Meyer,
