Signature Flight Support Corporation has purchased the assets of Azalea Aviation Inc.'s Mobile Air Center at Mobile Regional Airport (KMOB) and Downtown Air Center at Mobile Downtown Airport (KBFM) expanding Signature's Southeast footprint.

Mobile Air Center (KMOB) began by providing fuel services in the 1950's and constructed its first executive terminal and hangars in the late 1960's.  Today, the facility features 60,000 sq. ft. of hangars and 16,000 sq. ft. of executive terminal and customer offices. Mobile Air Center offers line maintenance services for turbine and piston powered aircraft on its leasehold. The facility operates its own fuel farm and in 2002, Mobile Air Center purchased the Million Air facility and now operates its executive terminal out of that building. Mobile Air Center is also a DESC (Government & Military) approved location.

Downtown Air Center (KBFM) is comprised of over 45,000 sq. ft. of hangar space including a newly constructed state-of-the-art 16,800 sq. ft. hangar.  Tenant offices comprise 6,000 sq. ft. and the executive terminal occupies over 5,000 sq. ft.   Downtown Air Center provides fueling operations for FedEx, Mobile Aerospace, and the Airbus Center of Excellence and is also a DESC approved location.

The owners of Azalea Aviation, Taylor and Harris Morrissette, have built a business that provides important jobs and positive economic impact on the local Mobile community, which Signature will continue to provide in the future. Signature is also pleased to announce that Taylor Morrissette will stay on to oversee KMOB and KBFM.

Commenting on the acquisition, S. Michael Scheeringa, President of Signature Flight Support stated, "The Mobile, Alabama facilities bring two important locations to our Southeast region and the greater Signature network.  We welcome Taylor and his staff at both Mobile Air Center and Downtown Air Center to the Signature family and look forward to growing business at both locations through the power of Signature's global network and the Signature Service Promise®."

Taylor Morrissette also noted, "We have enjoyed our twenty plus years of operations at the Mobile airports and look forward to the great growth opportunities provided by the Signature network. The relationships that we have formed with our customers and the Mobile Airport Authority have been the keys to our success."

Mobile Airport Authority Executive Director, Bill Sisson, stated, "The Morrissettes have been outstanding tenants of the Mobile Airport Authority and have provided excellent service to the Mobile community.  We look forward to that tradition continuing with Signature. Having two Signature locations in Mobile speaks volumes about the economic vibrancy of our market."

Both facilities will be rebranded as Signature Flight Support and become part of Signature Flight Support's global network which now numbers 111 global locations.
