Last weekend 28 Cessna
195s from both East and West coasts, including Canada gathered in Tupelo,
Mississippi to share their love for the magnificent classic aircraft. Their
time was spent exploring the beauty of northern Mississippi, visiting William
Faulkner's home in Oxford, a working Catfish farm and even Elvis Presley's
home.

They did a lot of flying, including to a gorgeous private grass strip and enjoyed air to air photos of each others pride and joy. Most importantly they spent time among great friends, sharing a love of aviation and awarded substantial scholarship funds to two deserving young students.

Savannah Weaver flew her mom to Tupelo from Wetumpka, Alabama to thank the Club Foundation for a $4,000 scholarship. With a high school 4.16 GPA, she was awarded an Academic Excellence Scholarship to Auburn University Montgomery- AUM. At age 20 she has completed a Private Pilot license and A&P with Instrument, Commercial and Advanced Ground Instructor ratings, earning her own way.
"I would not be in college at all if it were not for that scholarship, and with plans to transfer to Auburn University in the fall of 2014, I have had to tighten my flying funds in order to prepare for the increased cost of school," she said, "I am a full time college student at AUM currently holding a 4.0 GPA in pursuit of a mechanical engineering degree, which will ultimately allow me greater opportunities in the aviation industry."
Savannah has a schedule for her flight training amid her college education but she needs funds to complete a CFI and multiengine rating during the holidays. In a video presentation, Samuel Barth of New York, the recipient of a $2,500, told how he is pursuing his aviation career. -B Meyer FMI: http://www.cessna195.org/
