VINEMONT AL- Momentum continues at the Cullman
Regional Airport with four improvement projects successfully completed over the
last year. Board members joined area dignitaries and guests to celebrate with a
ribbon cutting at the terminal building on Friday.
Cullman City Mayor and Airport Board Chair Max Townson thanked the Economic Development Department who is onboard seeking companies with aircraft to continue to prosper here. He said it is a fantastic airport and is proud of what has happened with the help of the Congressman and Senator for current and future grants.
County Commission Chairman Kenneth Walker said we appreciate everybody working together and thanked the Airport Board for their work.
Airport Manager Bob Burns talked about the new 12,000 sq ft concrete ramp, a million dollar project that took a year to construct, built to out last the asphalt one it replaced. He said the next big project is the runway extension, which is FAA approved but awaiting funding.
US Congressman Robert Aderholt congratulated Manager, Bob Burns, the Airport Board and the legislative delegation on the completion and partnership between the federal, local and state all coming together to make something happen. He stressed the importance of transportation and airports to bring business to the area.
In addition to Wallace State Aviation and Sky Dive Alabama, Alabama Department of Public Safety now call the Cullman Airport home as does Air Vac and the Prop Diner.
Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood Project Manager, Ryan Pearce described the new custom designed hangar for the largest sky dive operation in the state- Sky Dive Alabama, the new 8-bay hangars and concrete ramp construction completed in the last year. The hangar, locally built and funded, houses a Cessna Caravan and rooms for parachute rigging, lounges, video editing and merchandise that serves as many as 200 customers over a weekend.

According to Bob Burns, one future project maybe a corporate or business 30,000 sq foot spec hangar. The two new 8-bay hangars all have tenants. He would like to have an Avionics business on the field.
Along with Congressman Robert Aderholt, other legislators attending were State Sen. 4th District Paul Bussman, State Rep. 12th District Mac Buttrum and State Rep. 11th District Randall Shedd. Community leaders, supporters and Airport Board members were present. -B Meyer
