Often the last act is the most memorable; this is true of the President's Banquet at the International Council of Air Shows that ends each convention. This year Capt Greg McWherter, US Navy Blue Angels #1, received a Special Achievement award. Capt McWherter had an epic second term leading his Blue Angel team and personally changing the perception, flexibility and made the most significant advances in air show management by instituting two-year bookings.
Since 1981, ICAS Sword of Excellence has been synonymous with air show excellence. The Sword is widely considered the single highest honor an individual air show performer can receive. Wayne Boggs, Air Boss, was honored for his leadership, service, innovation, vision, commitment and selfless contributions to the air show business.
Each year ICAS presents the Art Scholl Showmanship Award to the air show act or performer that best exemplifies the qualities of showmanship demonstrated by Art Scholl. Rob Holland is the recipient of this year's award and takes his place among Jimmy Franklin, Sean D Tucker and Gene Saucy. FMI: ICAS
