The guys from the coop at "Chicken Wings Aviation Comics" are at it again. This summer at the biggest aviation gathering in the US, Oshkosh's very own "AirVenture", they will be releasing their fourth book titled "Gold Rush". "It's about time!" Mike Strasser, one of the authors, says. "We got sidetracked with too many other projects and fell behind with what we do best, making comic books about chickens flying airplanes."
The two brothers Mike and Stefan Strasser have been publishing their comic strip since the early days of 2004 in various magazines. Their aviation-themed comic took off and they have already managed to publish three books, which are available all over the world. The punch line, "Chuck, is that you?" which is often spoken after their main character ends up in trouble, has recently become a common phrase in the aviation community. Mike states, "When I am flying and people recognize me on the radio, they often ask, ‘Chuck, is that you?'"
Mike is also an experienced helicopter pilot in the US and has flown over 7,000 hours doing everything from flight instruction, over utility and offshore flying, to helicopter firefighting. "Most strips are not invented," says Stefan. "Mike keeps track of the funny stories pilots come up with and I can often already envision a new comic strip before he's even done talking." Stefan, who lives in Austria, is the artist behind the operation.
After the initial release at EAA AirVenture 2012, Chicken Wings 4 "Gold Rush" will be available online through the Chicken Wings website and in many selected pilot stores. Mike and Stefan will both be at the show to celebrate the release, meet their fans, and sign autographs. This is the first time ever since the inception of the comic in 2002 that the co-authors of the Chicken Wings series will be signing books together at an air show. - FMI: Chicken Wings Comics
