The Declaration of Independence was a statement adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, which announced that the thirteen American colonies, then at war with Great Britain, regarded themselves as independent states, and no longer a part of the British Empire. Among many things the document establishes, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
America celebrates her Independence Day in a big way including Alabama with events large and small. Most every community will offer traditional family patriotic activities on July the 4th. USS Alabama Battleship July 4th Celebration
Celebrate with an afternoon of live music and family entertainment culminating with a thrilling fireworks display choreographed with patriotic music.
