On August 14, 2013,
F/A-18 Hornets assigned to the U.S. Navy flight demonstration squadron, the
Blue Angels, fly in a delta formation over Pensacola Bay during a training
flight. While the Blue Angels' 2013 air show season has been canceled due to
sequestration, the pilots fly sorties to maintain proficiency in the F/A-18
Hornet.

The week ended with Blue Angel Hornet #7 dropping by Birmingham International Airport for a special sortie. Seeing number seven on the ramp brought memories of advance visits prior to airshow appearances of the Navy Demo Team. This weekend they would be performing in the Chicago Air and Water Show, if they were allowed. It is good to see a US Navy Blue Angels jet, even if only parked. This was a week the airport could use some good news and you all have been sorely missed. -B Meyer
