"They Gave You Wings" by Arden Wilson was published May 9, 2013. Wilson writes a fictional story from his real life experiences. -In the spring of 1942, the clouds of war were covering the continent of Europe. Slowly and surely, the United States had been pulled into the fight and after December 7, 1941, the war had become a full blown World War. Army Aviation recruits were piling into the San Joaquin Valley in California where the lives of young men and women would be changed forever.
A native Iowan who grew up during the Great Depression, Arden R. Wilson answered the call like many other young men of the 1940's. He entered the Air Force Pilot Training program as an Aviation Cadet in 1943, completing the program in January 1945. He was assigned to the Troop Carrier Command with a dual rating as a glider pilot. After the WWII, Arden became a Civilian Flight Instructor working at Anderson Air Base in Malden, Missouri, spending eight years as an instructor of USAF student pilots until the program was discontinued by the Air Force in 1960. As tribute to their efforts, this book is dedicated to the hard working core of Flight Instructors who served during WWII through the 1950's . "They Gave You Wings" is now available on Amazon. -Staff Report
