AUBURN AL- Over the past month, Auburn University has been unresponsive to thousands of calls and letters from students, parents, alumni and industry. A simple form letter stating that, "a decision will be made in the near future" is the only information being disseminated to those who express concern over the future of the program. The form letter even states several inaccurate stats on the health of the program. The nearly 4,000 alumni and current students of the Aviation Management Program deserve better.
In the last month, thousands of concerned individuals have signed an online petition, written letters to the university, Governor Bentley, Lt. Governor Ivey, Speaker Hubbard and all of Alabama's Congressmen and Senators. Now, celebrities such as Richard Simmons have joined the fight. Mr. Simmons took to YouTube to show his support for the Aviation Management program.
During Auburn's recent A-Day game, over 100 students and alumni joined forces in a dramatic show of support for the program. Thousands of leaflets and stickers were distributed to university officials, Board of Trustees members, other students, fans and dignitaries such as Apple CEO Tim Cook. Above the stadium, an airplane flew towing a banner that read, "SAVE AUBURN AVIATION - FLYAUBURN.ORG" -FMI:http://www.flyauburn.org/
