DOTHAN AL- "We had a successful Young Eagle Rally
last Saturday that included our usual fare of "Flying, Food, and
Fellowship" says EAA member Bill Castlen, "Our ground support team is
growing in numbers and experience." We were very pleased to recruit Rick
Rehm, a Cairns Approach Control Supervisor and Marius Heersink, a 17 year old
newly minted Private Pilot. Heersink has volunteered to advocate the
Young Eagle Program to other High School students.

Four volunteer pilots and planes flew three new Young Eagles and four returning youngsters for free. This is all part of the EAA Young Eagles Program that introduces flying to youth ages 8 - 17.
Larry Turnage, YE coordinator, explained the 5 step EAA Flight Plan that takes Young Eagles from their introductory flight- step 1, all the way to college- step 5 with an opportunity for a scholarship.
Experimental Aircraft Chapter- Wiregrass 1358, moving into their new HQ in Aero One Aviation at the Dothan Regional Airport, held a Rally and Open House for youth, parents and volunteers. They will hold their monthly meeting there every 2nd Saturday.
On May 18th, EAA 1358 will join with Marianna for a Wings Seminar and Young Eagle Rally as part of their Armed Forces Day Celebration.
