TUSKEGEE ALABAMA - The state's motor vehicles division this month began offering a license plate honoring the Tuskegee Airman and Airwomen, according to a news release from The Friends of Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, Inc
The tag bears the image of Lt. Col. Herbert Eugene Carter, now 95, a "Tuskegee Red Tail" who served with the WW II 99th Pursuit Squadron, made famous on Hollywood's big screen in the movie "Red Tails."
Tags are available at Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles tag offices across the state or on the department's website. Applicants must fill out an "Intent to Purchase" form, which reserves the tag in your name. Tags may be personalized at no extra charge.
A major portion of the tag fee will be returned to FTANHS to support the site, Tuskegee Airmen Museum and FTANHS. Additional donations in support of the museum can be sent to FTANHS, Inc., P.O.
