COURTLAND AL - Top aerobatic performers from across the United States will take to the sky September 29 when the Courtland Air Show returns to the Old Courtland Air Base. Along with thrilling aerial demonstrations from some of the country's top performers, the day-long event features static displays, food concessions, fireworks, and other family-friendly activities.

Nine nationally known aerobatic performers are slated for this year's heart pounding event. They include Jim "Hurricane" Achord, Chris Avery, AC-47 "Spooky" Gunship ( http://www.spooky47.com/), Keith Davis (http://www.kdairshows.com/), John "Bosco" Bostick, Greg Koontz and The Alabama Boys Comedy Team (http://www.gkairshows.com/), Chris "Mr. Twister" Murphy, and Captain Rocket Read and his Jet Van. Matt Younkin (http://www.younkinair.com/) will bring his Magic by Moonlight show complete with strobes, spotlights, and illuminated smoke for a spectacular twilight show.

Plenty of food and drink vendors will be on hand throughout the day. As a complement to the action in the sky, attendees can get an up-close look at a variety of aircraft displays. There will be carnival-type rides to entertain children for a nominal fee per ride. The Old Courtland Air Base is located at 146 Air Force Street in Courtland, Alabama. Gates open at noon with the airshow from 3-8pm. Admission is $10 per person. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets. Coolers, backpacks, and animals are not permitted. Proceeds benefit the Lawrence County Airport Authority and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.
