- from EAA- Sun 'n Fun Fly-In Inc. announced Friday that its board of directors has voted to consolidate all operations and staff - including the Florida Air Museum (FAM) - under the leadership of Sun 'n Fun and its president/CEO, John "Lites" Leenhouts.

The consolidation will incorporate some reorganization of staff designed to minimize duplication of services and improve the organization's overall efficiency, the organization stated in a news release. Although FAM was previously a fully owned subsidiary of Sun 'n Fun, it operated as a separate nonprofit organization under an independent set of directors. The consolidation will allow them to retain this status for development and fundraising purposes, but day-to-day operations will become part of the Sun 'n Fun organization.

As a result of the consolidation, FAM President John Burton announced he will step down. "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have worked at Sun 'n Fun and the Florida Air Museum for the past 13 years as it was a time of tremendous growth, for both organizations as well as for me," Burton said. "I am proud of everything we were able to accomplish as a team during that time, especially the mutually beneficial relationships that were established with so many key partners on the local, regional, state, and national levels." -EAA News
