FORT RUCKER AL- Brig. Gen. Timothy J. Edens, assistant division commander, 2d Infantry Division, Eighth United States Army, Korea, will assume duties as director of Army safety and commander of the U.S. Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center from Brig. Gen. William T. Wolf on June 22, 2012.
Brig. Gen. Tim Edens entered the Army in 1981, graduating from the U.S. Military Academy.

Brig. Gen. Edens assumed command of 4th Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in June 2005. On Aug. 7, 2006, Brig. Gen. Edens folded the 4th Brigade, 1ID colors and unfurled the colors of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade as the only "transformed" combat aviation brigade (heavy) now deployed under U.S. Army Europe.
In July 2007, he deployed the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade (minus 3-159 ARB) as TF XII to Balad as the Multi-National Corps-Iraq (MNC-I) Combat Aviation Brigade. As of Oct. 5, 2008, the brigade successfully completed 15 months of combat operations and returned to Katterbach/Illesheim. Following command, Brig. Gen. Edens served in the G3, Operations Staff for U.S. Army Europe.
From July 2009 to May 2010, Brig. Gen. Edens performed duties as the chief of staff, U.S. Army Aviation Center of Excellence, Fort Rucker, Ala. He continued his service at Fort Rucker as the deputy commander of the Army Aviation Center of Excellence until June 2010.
From July 2011 to Jun 2012, Brig. Gen. Edens served as the assistant division commander for Support of the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea.
