Blue Star Salute of Alabama is a concerted effort by local, state and national military, political, veteran and caring citizen groups and organizations and sets aside a day for particularly significant appreciation and honors for America's military... (active, reserves and national guard), of all branches: Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force and the historic US Merchant Marines. The program will include historical reenactments; revolutionary history, patriotic music by a military band and a Gold Star Remembrance Ceremony to honor Alabama's Fallen Heroes who have died while defending America's freedoms.

● Civil War Reenactment

Camps will be open to the public at 9:00 a.m. prior to the 2:00 p.m. battles.
The Union and Confederacy will clash once again at the annual Civil War Reenactment and Living History program that will be presented on May 26 & 27, 2012 at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. Come and experience the excitement of Civil War Infantry, Cavalry and Artillery in combat at the recreation of one of the most pivotal events in American History.
Authentic camps, medical and civilian demonstrations and military drill competitions will be held during the day preceding the afternoon battle. The 5th Alabama Regimental Band will provide a concert each day as well as performing for the Camp Ball Saturday evening.
Camps will be open to the public at 9:00 a.m. prior to the 2:00 p.m. battles. An authentic sutler (merchant) street is also open to the public featuring mid 19th century clothing, equipment, food and drink.

● 34th Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic

The Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Classic has been a premier festival for 34 years!
Admission to the Alabama Jubilee is free! Parking for the Jubilee is Free; though there is a small fee to ride the shuttle busses. The Alabama Jubilee features sixty balloons from around the US.
-Saturday morning is the 'hare & hound' race where balloons follow a 'hare' that will land to set a target others try to hit with beanbags.
-Sunday balloons fly-into the field in the Lynn Layton Key Grab and attempt to grab a ring from the top off a tall pole.
-Saturday evening the balloons light up the night with a balloon glow.
-Sunday evening many balloons also offer free tethered rides, while some choose to fly.
