Third Tuscaloosa Blue Angel Airshow Wows Crowd

U.S. Navy Blue Angel pilot #6 LT Dave Tickle, a Birmingham native and Fat Albert C-130 pilot Capt. John Hecker, U.S. Marines, an Auburn graduate, along with several enlisted members from around Alabama compose the 40 plus member demonstration team that headlined the show. For those with Alabama ties, performing for their hometown crowd is extra sweet.

According to Mayor Walt Maddox, it is very rare for a non-military community like Tuscaloosa to have the opportunity to host three shows in a four-year period. He said the feat speaks to the hospitality of the community, the work of city staff and the number of people who attend the air show.

More than 75,000 spectators flocked to Tuscaloosa Regional Airport Saturday and Sunday to watch the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Golden Knights and other national top performers at the Regional Airport. -B Meyer
