Shelby County Airport, KEET, received the AVweb Blue Ribbon FBO of the week, February 12. Airport Manager, Terry Franklin commented, "it is obviously an honor, we strive for customer service and this is a reflection on our people. We really appreciated it."
Shelby County celebrated an Open House on April 13, 2009, showing off an extreme terminal makeover and expansion plan that included an extended runway, remodeled terminal facility, additional corporate/private hangars, and an adjacent business park development. County leadership has a lot to show for their efforts on behalf of its citizens.
On February 6, Golden Eagle Aviation at Moton Field in Tuskegee, K06A, was chosen FBO of the week. Sylvester Williams, FBO manager at historic Moton Field received kudos from a Cub owner who stayed for three unplanned days waiting for weather to pass.
According to the nomination to AVweb by Billy Tyndall, Sylvester and Minnie run the FBO with such personality and warmth that transient pilots immediately feel at home.
