EAA Group Meets with National Weather Service

SHELBY Co AL- During their February meeting, members and guests of Shelby County airport EAA Chapter 825, visited the National Weather Service office. Senior Meteorologist and NOAA employee, Mary Keiser hosted a facility tour and weather forecast presentation.

The pilots learned how several different atmospheric models are compared to develop a "confidence level" for a forecast. She told the group interesting facts from behinds the scenes about how the weather bureau issues information as a forecast to the public.

Local pilots interested in flying in an often, turbulent spring weather pattern can attend the Shelby County Aviation Association Weather Seminar event on April 21 at the airport. - Fred Masterson contributed to this report. FMI: EVENTS
